The National Service Card is a digital device, just like smart cards and tokens, that provides the certified online identification of its owner through a “digital certificate” of personal authentication. 

The digital certificate is the electronic equivalent of an ID which digitally identifies a person or an entity. It can be issued by a Certification Authority (CA), which operates in compliance with international standards in order to guarantee the validity of the information contained in digital certificates.

CNS allows the owner to consult the personal data uploaded by Public Administrations on their websites.

The National Service Card issued by the Chamber of Commerce is an integrated device that serves to digitally sign electronic documents and to access Public Administration services. It also allows a legal representative or an owner of a business to freely consult the information on his/her business contained in the Business Register, such as:

• Standard company profiles, historical company profiles, artisan company profile, business data sheets;
• The template of the declaration in lieu of Business Register certificate;
• By-laws, deeds, and filed annual accounts;
• Current payment status of the annual fee;
• Current status of the applications filed at the Business Register and contained in the Entrepreneur’s Digital Drawer

Any Italian Region can provide users with smart cards, which perform the functions both of the CNS and of the Health Card issued by the National Health Service. If you already have a Health Card, you can activate its CNS functions by applying to the Agenzia di Tutela della Salute for the required PIN. It is also necessary to buy a smart card reader and connect it to your personal computer.

This Chamber of Commerce issues electronic devices that include both the CNS functions and the digital signature.
