How to register
Focus on
Documents must be written in Italian, or accompanied by a certified translation into Italian.
Documents from extra-EU countries must also be apostilled or legalised.
How to register
New companies must register in the Regional or Provincial branch (it depends on where the headquarters is) of the Register only via the Internet. Registration forms can be found within the software or within the IT platform to use for submitting.
Necessary requirements
To enrol in the Register, companies must comply with the following requirements:
- to be already registered in the Business Register, in the REA or, in the professional register of the State of residence (if based abroad);
- to have no declaration of liquidation, bankruptcy or insolvency, or any other equivalent procedure established by foreign law, against the applicant business/body;
- to have lawfully paid all the social security contributions, established by the Italian law or by the law of the state of residence.
Furthermore, to enrol in the Register, Companies must:
- meet personal and technical requirements common to all registration categories (e.g. criminal proceedings, false declarations, interdictions, citizenship, etc);
- meet financial suitability requirements and technical suitability requirements (only for cat. 1, 4, 5, 6, 8, 9 et 10);
- submit a bank guarantee (only for cat. 1, 5, 6, 8, 9 et 10);
- appoint a Technical Manager who meets the prescribed professional and personal requirements (only for cat. 1, 4, 5, 8, 9 et 10). The Technical Manager can be one of the legal representatives/owners, an employee or an external party.
Things to know
The positive /negative outcome of the registration procedure is notified within 60 days of receipt of the application form.

Registration Categories
Activities to be registered in the Register of Environmental Operators are divided into ten categories – 1, 2/bis, 3/bis, 4, 5, 6, 8, 9, 10 – which differ in the type of business activity carried out.
Companies can request to be registered in one or more categories, depending on their size and activity.
All the categories, except for 2/bis and 3/bis, are divided into different classes, based on various parameters.

Things to know
Foreign companies which do not have their headquarters in Italy can be registered only in certain categories (e.g. cat. 8), and only if they have a certified email address (PEC).
Modifications and cancellations
Any modification or cancellation (for example cancellation from the Register, modifications concerning vehicles – license plate change on a registered vehicle, cancellation of a vehicle due to sale, scrapping, theft, etc…) must be communicated to the Chamber of Commerce via a form, available online.
Transfers, conveyances, mergers, demergers, and donations must be notified to the Register by certified email (PEC, Posta Elettronica Certificata).
The notification must be made to the Register, Regional Section of Lombardy, within 30 days of the occurrence of a modification.
In the absence of notification, a disciplinary proceeding will be opened, and the registration will be suspended.
