How to use
In order to digitally sign a document you have to use the proper software:
- If you are signing from a PC using a USB token, smart card, or remote signature, you must download the free Firma4NG software from the Infocamere website;
- If you are signing from a smartphone or tablet using remote signature , you need to install the free Digital DNA IC app (available for both iOS and Android).
The digital signature can be affixed on various file formats, but we suggest using PDF.
In order to digitally sign electronic documents you need to:
- Insert the signature device into an appropriate reader (smart card) or into a USB port on your computer (token);
- Start the signature software, enter your PIN when prompted and follow the instructions.
Once digitally signed, the document takes the p7m file extension, in addition to the original one.
A special signature software tool serves to affix a digital time stamp on the document, ascertaining the date, minute and second of the signature. In this case the file takes the m7m extension.
In case you need to send a digitally signed document, we suggest doing it via certified email.
